New Years Resolution for 2018 – be good to yourself

Happy New Year signMany Americans start each New Year with resolutions to lose weight, exercise more, or maybe quit smoking. And the average time these resolutions are kept is just about one month. In 2018, make a resolution to be kind to yourself while making changes in your life. Jae Berman, a registered dietician and personal trainer, has some suggestions to help you make your resolutions work this year. Read these ideas and use them to lead you into a healthier, happier 2018.

Think small. This mantra reminds me of “shop small” Saturday. The recommendation is to try to make a small change to your behavior to improve your health. Just add a glass of water to your liquid intake each day. That’s a small thing and simple to do. You can also think of a small walk in the woods here at 30 Timber Road B&B. A simple 20-minute walk on our trails can lift your spirits and help improve your health.Path through the woods at 30 Timber Road B&B

Treat yourself. Don’t deprive yourself! Jae recommends that you add a touch of luxury to your day. When you stay at 30 Timber Road B&B, you sleep on totally awesome sheets! You could feel that softness at home too. Purchase Comphy Sheets from us during your next stay at our B&B.

Have fun. Sometimes changing your eating habits can seem like a chore or just downright depressing. Take a cooking class at a nearby cooking school. Check out the classes at The Kitchen Shoppe, Inc. Become a master at quinoa or have fun at the “Taco Tuesday” class. Take a cooking class and get a special discount on your stay with us.

Delay action. Your resolutions are for 2018 – all 12 months are available for you to complete the resolutions! Use a January getaway to plan the rest of your year’s activities. Stay with us during January and enjoy a “Cabin Fever” special rate of 50% off your second consecutive night. You may need 2 days to plan your year, to warm-up by the cozy fireplace in your room, and enjoy the luxurious linens.

Do what you want. Consider your likes and dislikes for diet and exercise and make your own choices for activities and food. Make a choice to be gentle with yourself. Give yourself small getaways and little fun gifts to keep up your spirits and give yourself a reward for progress.

We wish you a happy, healthy, prosperous, and fun New Year! We hope to be a part of you plans for a getaway in 2018.
